2017 National Training Conference

The 2017 Bikeability annual conference will be held on Tuesday 9th & Wednesday 10th May.

This year, for the first time, the conference will be held over 2 days, with a guided bike ride and opening drinks reception hosted by Hull City Council on the evening of Tuesday 9th May.

TABS encourages everyone to attend both days to explore Hull during their City of Culture year and network with other delegates. It is worth considering that there will likely be cost savings from booking off-peak trains during the afternoon of 9th May compared to peak-time tickets on the morning of the 10th. Further details in Travel section – see below.

Not only are Hull City Council are offering special rates on accommodation for TABS delegates but also, thanks to Hull Council and First Step Sports sponsorship, TABS is able to offer  cheaper tickets for delegates, as well as an introductory offer for instructors – just £50 for two days of networking and training. TABS actively welcome instructors to attend either as a scheme employee, or an independent.  Further details below.

The TABS conference will be held in the grand setting of  The Guildhall, Hull, with a series of parallel workshops running throughout the day, covering a wide range of topics.  This year the workshops will be longer (90 rather than 60 minutes) to enable more detailed discussion per session.

NEW to the conference this year, there will be a series of activities the night before (Tuesday 9th May). These will include a free guided ride around Hull, led by local cyclists to look at the sights. This will be followed by a social evening at a popular local bar/restaurant.

The cost for attending the 2 days of the Bikeability conference is as follows:

  • First delegate from TABS member scheme / organisation – FREE
  • Further delegates from TABS member scheme / organisation – £50 per person
  • Special introductory offer – this is NEW this year, to encourage more instructors to attend and take advantage of the 2 days of training / networking  – just £50 per instructor
  • Other delegates that are not TABS members – £180 per person
