Case study – Bike Club to encourage more regular cycling habits, pre/post Bikeability training

Clive Eve from Cycle Experience runs a Bike Club for Eastlea Primary School in Cramlington on Wednesdays after school and was recently involved in the school’s annual Hike and Bike fundraising event on 13th November 2017.

The challenge was to Bike or Hike from school to Blyth Beach, a distance of 3.5 miles.  The hikers set out first accompanied by staff, Governers and two community police offers.    The bikers were accompanied by Clive and staff and some members of the Vintage Cycle Club.

Everyone enjoyed fish and chips when they reached the beach before the Hikers returned to school by coach and the Bikers cycled all the way back.

Seven of the bikers were going to hike but Clive got them involved in the Bike Club and loaned them bikes for the challenge.

The Bike Club has grown since it started up and many children hadn’t been involved in Bikeability training previously so now enjoy the courses provided by Cycle Experience each year.
